HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Seniors are an integral aspect of our community, providing wisdom and lifelong experience that people of all ages can benefit from; and

WHEREAS, The Hanover Township Senior Center has involved, enriched, and empowered seniors in the State of Illinois through a wide variety of programs in education, fitness, arts, recreation, travel, and volunteer service; the center has also enhanced the ability of seniors to remain independent so they may remain an asset for all citizens; and

WHEREAS, The Hanover Township Senior Center has facilitated the dignity and self-esteem of seniors, thus tapping into the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities and enabling them to continue to contribute to our community; and

WHEREAS, NCOA's National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) is the accrediting body for 10,000 senior centers nationwide; accredited centers must meet 9 standards set by the National Institute of Senior Centers in various categories, ranging from fiscal management to programming; and

WHEREAS, The Hanover Township Senior Center earned the Nationally Accredited Senior Center designation from the National Institute of Senior Centers in July of 2012; the center is the first township-run senior center - and only the 6th center in Illinois - to gain accreditation; and

WHEREAS, The employees of the Hanover Township Senior Center serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the employees of the Hanover Township Senior Center on the occasion of the center being recognized as a Nationally Accredited Senior Center and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Hanover Township Senior Center as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
