HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ron Schweizer on 
4the occasion of his retirement as President of the Elwood Fire 
5Protection District Board in July of 2012; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, Forrest 
7(Shocky) Schweizer, who served as a volunteer firefighter from 
81950 to 1960, Ron Schweizer joined the Elwood Fire Department 
9in 1960 as a volunteer firefighter at the age of 18, where for 
10a time he served under his cousin, Fire Chief Jay Schweizer; he 
11steadily ascended the ranks, serving at the rank of lieutenant 
12before becoming captain; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, In 1972, Ron Schweizer became a trustee with the 
14Elwood Fire Protection District Board; during his tenure with 
15the Board, he helped bring full-time paramedics/firefighters 
16to Elwood in 1994 and brought the design and construction of 
17Elwood's new fire station to completion in 1997; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Ron Schweizer plans to spend his retirement 
19traveling with his wife, Catherine, and spending time with his 
20daughters, Linda and Liz; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, Ron Schweizer has served as a model of hard work,

1integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
2Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Ron Schweizer on the occasion of his retirement 
6and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Ron Schweizer as a symbol of our esteem and 
10respect.
