HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas Richard Simac of Boy Scout Troop 297 in Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates, on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, He has been in scouting since the age of 7; he earned the Arrow of Light as a Webelos Scout; he earned 29 merit badges, with 21 badges required to earn the rank of Eagle Scout; in 2008, he was elected to the Lakota Lodge of the Order of the Arrow and is now a Brotherhood honor member of the lodge; and

WHEREAS, He served as Den Chief for Cub Scout Pack 297 for 3 years and earned the Den Chief Service Award in 2010; he continues to work as a Troop Guide with the boys from Pack 297 who have crossed over to Troop 297; and

WHEREAS, For the past 2 years, he has served as a volunteer with West Suburban PADS, assisting with providing emergency shelter to the homeless; Thomas assists with serving food and setting up bedding for people; and

WHEREAS, His Eagle Scout project involved refurbishing the shower and storage rooms used by PADS at the Saint Mary of Celle Catholic Church in Berwyn; and

WHEREAS, Thomas is currently a sophomore at Hoffman Estates High School; a Court of Honor will be held on July 22, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Simac exemplifies what a Boy Scout should be and lives by the Scout Oath and Scout Law: he is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Thomas Simac on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas Simac as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
