| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to celebrate milestones in the |
| 4 | | lives of citizens of the State of Illinois; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Acacio Luz was born on September 3, 1932 |
| 6 | | in San Francisco, California, to Roque Acacio and Dorothy |
| 7 | | Tokowitz; she had 7 brothers and sisters, Stephen, Clarence, |
| 8 | | Jenny, Elaine, Kelly, Jackie, and Siso; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, She left California as an infant and was raised in |
| 10 | | Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines; she was a little girl during |
| 11 | | the Japanese invasion of the Philippines; she graduated from |
| 12 | | Far Eastern University in the Philippines in 1955 with a |
| 13 | | Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics; she later became |
| 14 | | a home economics teacher; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn met Venancio Luna Luz when she was 18 and |
| 16 | | he was 19; Venancio graduated at the University of the |
| 17 | | Philippines with an engineering degree; Venancio, whose plan |
| 18 | | was to attend MIT for his masters in hydroelectric engineering, |
| 19 | | found his perfect match with a former beauty queen; Marilyn and |
| 20 | | Venancio were married on December 3, 1956; Marilyn's marriage |
| 21 | | to Venancio was a happy one; the 2 were each other's best |
| 22 | | friend; after his passing, she left the Philippines and moved |
