HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to celebrate milestones in the 
4lives of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Acacio Luz was born on September 3, 1932 
6in San Francisco, California, to Roque Acacio and Dorothy 
7Tokowitz; she had 7 brothers and sisters, Stephen, Clarence, 
8Jenny, Elaine, Kelly, Jackie, and Siso; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, She left California as an infant and was raised in 
10Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines; she was a little girl during 
11the Japanese invasion of the Philippines; she graduated from 
12Far Eastern University in the Philippines in 1955 with a 
13Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics; she later became 
14a home economics teacher; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Marilyn met Venancio Luna Luz when she was 18 and 
16he was 19;  Venancio graduated at the University of the 
17Philippines with an engineering degree;  Venancio, whose plan 
18was to attend MIT for his masters in hydroelectric engineering, 
19found his perfect match with a former beauty queen;  Marilyn and 
20Venancio were married on December 3, 1956;  Marilyn's marriage 
21to Venancio was a happy one;  the 2 were each other's best 
22friend;  after his passing, she left the Philippines and moved

1with her children to the United States; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, She worked for Avon for 20 years and worked to put 
3her children through college; she loves to shop for fabric to 
4make clothes; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She will celebrate her birthday with her children, 
6Venancio Jr. (Venjie), Dorothy (Dottie), Venancio III 
7(Vencie), Germaine (Gemma), and Apolinar (Paul); and her 
8grandchildren, Pasquale, Andres, Alexis, Jennifer, Stephanie, 
9Colin, Alyssa, Krista, Raynaldo, Charlie, and Jorey; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Her 80th birthday will be celebrated on July 14, 
112012, with family and friends at the Stonegate Centre in 
12Hoffman Estates; therefore, be it
  
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
15we congratulate Marilyn Luz on her 80th birthday and wish her 
16all the best for the future; and be it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to Marilyn Acacio Luz as a symbol of our respect and 
19esteem.
