| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Alex A. Piemonte | ||||||
| 4 | Jr. on the occasion of receiving the Joseph Cardinal Bernardin | ||||||
| 5 | Humanitarian Award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian | ||||||
| 6 | Americans; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Humanitarian Award | ||||||
| 8 | is given by the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans to | ||||||
| 9 | those who exemplify the virtues of caring, humanity, and good | ||||||
| 10 | will that were the hallmark of Cardinal Bernardin's tenure as | ||||||
| 11 | Archbishop of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Alex Piemonte Jr. was born and raised in Chicago; | ||||||
| 13 | he attended Roosevelt Military Academy and the University of | ||||||
| 14 | Illinois, where he majored in business; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, After serving in the military for 2 years, Alex | ||||||
| 16 | Piemonte Jr. began his career in the automobile business as a | ||||||
| 17 | salesman for Dick Fencl Chevrolet; 11 years later, after moving | ||||||
| 18 | up to Sales Manager and, eventually, General Manager, he had | ||||||
| 19 | the opportunity to buy Glenbrook Ford; in 1966, he purchased Al | ||||||
| 20 | Piemonte Ford in Melrose Park; his business has subsequently | ||||||
| 21 | grown to include 7 more dealerships and 8 automobile | ||||||
| 22 | franchises; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Alex Piemonte Jr. has been an active member of his | ||||||
| 2 | community; every year, Al Piemonte Ford participates in the | ||||||
| 3 | Taste of Melrose; the dealership also gives donations to the | ||||||
| 4 | Lady of Mt. Caramel Church; he has also been involved in Toys | ||||||
| 5 | for Tots and the Ronald McDonald Foundation and sponsors | ||||||
| 6 | baseball, basketball, and soccer teams within his community; | ||||||
| 7 | and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Alex Piemonte Jr. has been the recipient of the | ||||||
| 9 | UNICO Man of the Year Award and won the Flowers of Italy Man of | ||||||
| 10 | the Year Award in 1998; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Alex Piemonte Jr. and his loving wife, Rosanna, | ||||||
| 12 | reside in the northern suburbs; he has 5 children, Mary | ||||||
| 13 | Gregory, Jeff Piemonte, Patrick Piemonte, Alexandra Piemonte, | ||||||
| 14 | and Marco Piemonte, and 6 grandchildren; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Alex Piemonte Jr. will be presented with the | ||||||
| 16 | Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Humanitarian Award during an event at | ||||||
| 17 | the Donald E. Stephens South Ballroom in Rosemont on June 9, | ||||||
| 18 | 2012; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | we congratulate Alex A. Piemonte Jr. on the occasion of | ||||||

| 1 | receiving the Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Humanitarian Award and | ||||||
| 2 | wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be | ||||||
| 3 | it further
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 5 | presented to Alex Piemonte Jr. as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 6 | respect.
