HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate  Donna Kei Lewis on 
4the occasion of her retirement as a teacher in East St. Louis 
5School District #189; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Donna Lewis is the daughter of Marcella Lewis 
7Phillips and Ronald L. Brown; she grew up in East St. Louis and 
8was educated in School District #189; after attending Dunbar 
9School, Webster School, and Rock Junior High School, she 
10graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1974; she 
11subsequently received her bachelor's degree in education from 
12Southern Illinois
University in 1978 and her master's degree in 
13education from McKendree University in 2005; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, During high school, Donna Lewis was employed at 
15the Catholic Day Care Program and Lessie
Bates Neighborhood 
16House during school hours; in 1979, she began working for the 
17City of Clayton, Missouri at the Social Security Office; later 
18that year, she was hired to teach children in East St. Louis 
19School District #189, where she has served pride and 
20distinction for 34.7 years; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS,  Donna Lewis serves as a model of hard work, 
22integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of

1Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate Donna Kei Lewis on the occasion of her 
5retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement 
6years; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Donna Lewis as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
