| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate LyondellBasell's |
| 4 | | petrochemical plant in Morris on being named the Industrial |
| 5 | | Plant of the Year by the Illinois Association of Water |
| 6 | | Pollution Control Operators; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The site had previously been named a finalist in |
| 8 | | the industry category for the "Best Operated Wastewater |
| 9 | | Treatment Works" award as a result of a nomination by the |
| 10 | | Illinois Environmental Protection Agency; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The Morris Complex is one of the largest |
| 12 | | petrochemical facilities in the Midwest; using natural gas |
| 13 | | liquids as a feedstock, the plant manufactures ethylene, the |
| 14 | | world's most widely-used petrochemical, which is then |
| 15 | | converted into polyethylene resins; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The resins provide value to society by serving as |
| 17 | | building blocks for products such as leak-proof and |
| 18 | | shatterproof containers for industrial and household |
| 19 | | chemicals, packaging that protects food from spoilage and |
| 20 | | contamination, and children's toys that are safe and durable; |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, LyondellBasell is one of the world's largest |
| 2 | | plastics, chemical, and refining companies; the company |
| 3 | | manufactures products at 58 sites in 18 countries;

| 4 | | LyondellBasell products and technologies are used to make items |
| 5 | | that improve the quality of life for people around the world |
| 6 | | including packaging, electronics, automotive parts, home |
| 7 | | furnishings, construction materials, and biofuels; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The purpose of the annual awards for the Illinois |
| 9 | | Association of Water Pollution Control Operators is to |
| 10 | | emphasize the relationship between adequate wastewater |
| 11 | | treatment and clean receiving waters and to give public |
| 12 | | recognition and encouragement to the industries and their |
| 13 | | personnel, who have operated their wastewater facilities in an |
| 14 | | especially effective manner; therefore, be it

| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 17 | | we congratulate the staff and leadership at LyondellBasell's |
| 18 | | petrochemical plant in Morris on receiving this award and wish |
| 19 | | them the best for the future; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to a representative of LyondellBasell's Morris |
