| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Albert |
| 4 | | "Al" Benedetti of Naperville, who passed away on May 3, 2012; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was born January 2, 1924 in Chicago; he |
| 7 | | graduated from North Central College in 1948 with a degree in |
| 8 | | chemistry; as a student-athlete, he starred on the 1946 and |
| 9 | | 1947 championship football teams and played in the 1947 Corn |
| 10 | | Bowl, the College's first postseason appearance and only one |
| 11 | | until 2005; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy |
| 13 | | during World War II and attended Officers Candidate School; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He joined Bruno Benedetti & Sons in 1951 and was |
| 15 | | named president of the residential construction company in |
| 16 | | 1963; he served as a member of the Board of Directors of |
| 17 | | Washington Bank and Trust Company (later Westbank) for 14 |
| 18 | | years, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce for 9 years, and |
| 19 | | the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association for 6 years; |
| 20 | | and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, He was the founder of the Naperville Little League |
|

| 1 | | and a life-time member of the Naperville Heritage Society; a |
| 2 | | street in Naperville bears the family name, Benedetti Drive; |
| 3 | | and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, He began serving on the North Central College |
| 5 | | Board of Trustees in 1988; in 1999, he was honored with the |
| 6 | | College's Gael D. Swing Award for Meritorious Service; in 2002, |
| 7 | | he received the College's Outstanding Alumni Award; in 2006, he |
| 8 | | was inducted into the North Central College Athletics Hall of |
| 9 | | Fame; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, He was responsible for the construction efforts |
| 11 | | that led to the building of the College stadium, renamed |
| 12 | | Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in 2003; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and |
| 14 | | Anita; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Albert Benedetti is survived by his loving wife, |
| 16 | | Alpha; his children, Denise (Warren) Loveland, Diane |
| 17 | | Benedetti, Doreene Benedetti, and Valerie (Dan) Munson; his |
| 18 | | grandchildren, Dana Ripper, Sara Loveland, Ann Loveland |
| 19 | | (Rachel Campbell), and Philip and Jenifer Munson; his brother, |
| 20 | | Roy Benedetti; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be |
| 21 | | it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 2 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
| 4 | | Albert Benedetti; and be it further
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 | | presented to the family of Albert Benedetti as a symbol of our |
| 7 | | sincere sympathy.
