| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Heath on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as Director of Bands at Batavia High |
| 5 | | School after 22 years of dedicated service; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, John Heath earned his bachelor and master degrees |
| 7 | | in music education and his bachelor’s degree in tuba |
| 8 | | performance from the University of Illinois in |
| 9 | | Champaign/Urbana; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Prior to his tenure at Batavia High School, John |
| 11 | | Heath served as Director of Bands in Highland Illinois for 12 |
| 12 | | years; he was also a member of the St. Louis Philharmonic |
| 13 | | Orchestra for 10 seasons and a past president of the Illinois |
| 14 | | Music Educators Association; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, John Heath has conducted at the Illinois Summer |
| 16 | | Youth Music Camp and numerous IMEA District Band Festivals |
| 17 | | throughout the State of Illinois; he is also a Tri-M (Music |
| 18 | | Honor Society) Sponsor at Batavia High School; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Heath has been the recipient of numerous |
| 20 | | honors for his work in music education, including the 2009 "Mr. |
| 21 | | Holland's Opus" Award, the 2004 Kane County Regional |
