HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sam Maniscalco for 
4being an outstanding student and athlete during his college 
5career at Bradley University and the University of Illinois at 
6Urbana-Champaign; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, He recently finished his collegiate basketball 
8career in 2011-12 at the University of Illinois at 
9Urbana-Champaign; he was named to the All-Tournament Team at 
10the 2011 Cancun Challenge and was Illinois's Big Ten 
11Sportsmanship Honoree; and
  
 
  
12    WHEREAS,
Prior to his arrival at the University of 
13Illinois, he played 111 games over 3 seasons at Bradley 
14University, serving 3 years as co-captain; he was a 2-time 
15Missouri Valley Scholar Athlete and Honors Court honoree; he 
16posted a career scoring total of 1,210 points and 355 assists, 
17earning all-conference honoree in 2010; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, He is a graduate of Chicago's St. Patrick High 
19School and was a 1st Team all-State pick by the Illinois 
20Coaches Association; he is a graduate of Queen of All Saints 
21Basilica Grammar School, where his father, Carl, serves as a 
22coach; and

1    WHEREAS, During his time at Queen of All Saints, he 
2achieved a record of 131-5 over 5 years; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, He earned a bachelor's degree in sports 
4communications and is currently pursuing a graduate degree at 
5the University of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Sam Maniscalco on his college career and wish 
9him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Sam Maniscalco as a symbol of our respect and 
12esteem.
