HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, During the 97th General Assembly, House 
3Resolution 39 created the Psychotropic Substances Suicide Risk 
4Task Force to (1) study and report upon the available research 
5relevant to the reputed causal link between prescription of 
6psychotropic substances and acts of suicide or violence against 
7others; (2) to evaluate whether the State of Illinois' current 
8policies with regard to psychotropic substances are adequate to 
9protect the public; and (3) to make recommendations as to 
10whether Illinois should consider adopting additional policies 
11with regard to psychotropic  substances, including but not 
12limited to requiring county  coroners to test for psychotropic 
13substances in cases of suspected suicide; and



  
 
14    WHEREAS, The Psychotropic Substances Suicide Risk Task 
15Force was to report its finding and recommendations to the 
16General Assembly by December 31, 2011; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The Psychotropic Substances Suicide Risk Task 
18Force needs additional time to complete its work; therefore, be 
19it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
22the Psychotropic Substances Suicide Risk Task Force shall

1submit a report, as required in House Resolution 39 of the 97th 
2General Assembly, no later than December 31, 2012; and be it 
3further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That with this reporting extension, The 
5Psychotropic Substances Suicide Risk Task Force shall continue 
6to operate pursuant to House Resolution 39 of the 97th General 
7Assembly.
