HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Price, who passed away on March 3, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mary Price was born on February 23, 1911, in Meridian, Mississippi; she was adopted by Archie and Clarinda Barnes; she married the love of her life, Jack Robert Price, on February 23, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Mary Price was employed at the Woodmill Hotel on 46th and Woodlawn during the 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Mary Price joined the Progressive Baptist Church in 1943 under the leadership of the late Rev. T. E. Brown; she was an active member of the church and served on several stewardships within the church, including Sunday School Class #19, the Unity Club, the Senior Citizens Club, and the Bessie Sanford Mission; "Sister or Mother Price", as she was affectionately known, was a faithful member of the church for 69 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Price enjoyed gardening, her pets, and her church; and

WHEREAS, Mary Price was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Price, and her brother, John T. Barnes; and

WHEREAS, Mary Price is survived by her daughter, LaToya Price-Childs; her son-in-law, Daniel K. Childs; her grandsons, Daniel and Kevin; her cousin, Lillie Mae Shack; her sisters-in-law, Ruby Barnes and Adeline Washington; her goddaughter, Theresa Johnson; her best friends, Mylee Funches, Hillman Francisco, Fannie Perry, Nick Childs, Andro Childs, and Blondell Ferrell; and her many other extended family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary Price; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Price as an expression of our sympathy.
