HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to  learn of the death of
Sonja M. 
4Peters; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Sonja Peters began her career with Addison 
6Township on April 18, 1983; with her knowledge of real estate 
7and her real estate broker's license, she began in the 
8Assessor's office as a clerk under the administration of Kurt 
9Strasser; in 1987, she became the Deputy Assessor; in 1991, 
10under the administration of Christopher Kachiroubas, she 
11became the Chief Deputy Assessor; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1995, Sonja Peters was appointed to the 
13position of Addison Township Highway Commissioner; she was 
14subsequently elected to the position in 1997; for many years, 
15she held the distinction as the only female township highway 
16commissioner in the State of Illinois; she remained in that 
17position until her retirement in 2008; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Sonja Peters enjoyed painting and was well-known 
19as a great artist; and

  
 
20    WHEREAS, Sonja Peters was the loving mother of 6, the 
21grandmother of 12, and the great-grandmother of one; therefore,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of 
5Sonja M. Peters; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Sonja Peters as an expression of our 
8sympathy.
