HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bennie Martin on 
4his retirement as the Cook County Executive Law Librarian; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on May 1, 1946 in Greenville, 
6Mississippi; he served in the United States Army; he received a 
7Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and his 
8Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law; he 
9served as the President of the Black Law Student's Association 
10and the Editor of the Black Law Journal; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, He is a member of the Cook County Bar Association 
12and the Illinois State Bar Association; and

  
 
13    WHEREAS, He has served as the General Counsel for the Human 
14Enrichment Developmental Association from 1994 to the present; 
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, He previously served as a Reference Library at the 
17Cook County Law Library from 1967 to 1986; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, He has served as the Executive Law Librarian at 
19the Cook County Law Library since 1986 and retired on December 
2031, 2011; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Bennie Martin on his retirement and wish him 
4the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Bennie Martin as a symbol of our respect and 
7esteem.
