| 2 | | WHEREAS, In 1962, the Schaumburg Township District Library |
| 3 | | opened in a small house and has since expanded to a |
| 4 | | 166,000-square-foot building in
the Village of Schaumburg with |
| 5 | | branches in the Villages of Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Library has provided continuous, excellent |
| 8 | | public library service for 50 years; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Library provides books, magazines, music, |
| 10 | | movies, computers, online databases, downloadable
resources, |
| 11 | | and countless opportunities for lifelong learning;
and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The Library provides programs, films, concerts, |
| 13 | | classes, and activities for individuals of all ages and
their |
| 14 | | families;
and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Library provides specialized reference and |
| 16 | | research services for health, personal finance, jobs
and |
| 17 | | careers, and business development;
and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Library website provides digital access to |
| 19 | | valuable
information online;
and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Library offers resources, activities, and |
| 2 | | programs for children designed to expand young minds,
improve |
| 3 | | literacy, and provide a safe learning environment;
and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Library offers educational and recreational |
| 5 | | resources, activities, programs, and clubs of special
interest |
| 6 | | to teens;
and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Library provides comfortable and convenient |
| 8 | | meeting and study rooms for community groups;
and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Library offers materials, programs, and |
| 10 | | services to the homebound and residents of
rehabilitation, |
| 11 | | assisted living, and nursing home facilities;
and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The Library provides adaptive equipment for those |
| 13 | | with visual, hearing, learning, and physical
impairments; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The Library delivers books to daycare centers and |
| 15 | | day camps during the summer;
and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The Library assists new immigrants in learning |
| 17 | | English and preparing to become U.S. citizens;
and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Library works with local schools, |
| 19 | | governments, community agencies, and charitable organizations
|

| 1 | | to improve the quality of life in our communities;
and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Library has received numerous prestigious |
| 3 | | local, regional, State, and national awards;
and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Library is rated as one of the Top Ten U.S. |
| 5 | | Libraries; therefore, be it
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 7 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 8 | | we recognize the Schaumburg Township District Library's many |
| 9 | | achievements and services and
express congratulations on 50 |
| 10 | | years of informing, inspiring, and connecting the communities |
| 11 | | that it serves; and be it further
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 13 | | presented to the staff of the Schaumburg Township District |
| 14 | | Library as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
