HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Evelyn Steward on 
4her retirement as the Assistant to the Dean of Students at the 
5University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, She was hired by Social Service Administration 
8Dean of Students Penny Johnson to specifically assist SSA 
9students with course registration and requirements, financial 
10aid eligibility, all other student issues, degree-convocation 
11preparations, and much more; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, She was elected as a Teamster Delegate with 981 
13member votes out of an estimated 1500 ballots, elected to the 
14board for the Chicago-Teamsters National Black Caucus, and 
15appointed a Teamster Union Steward at the University of 
16Chicago; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, She completed the 3-year Labor Leadership and the 
18Law program at DePaul University; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, She and her daughter, Maya, will complete the last 
20of their home renovations, finalize their plans for travel to 
21England, Paris, and South Africa; after that Ms. Steward plans

1to devote more time to her miniature wood sculptures, and to 
2learning  how to cook; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, She has decided to continue working with the 
4Teamsters and Teamster National Black Caucus as a retiree; 
5therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Evelyn Steward on her retirement and wish her 
9the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Evelyn Steward as a symbol of our respect and 
12esteem.
