| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kyle C. |
| 4 | | Matthews of Chicago, who passed away on October 30, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on May 30, 1979 in Chicago to Kyle |
| 6 | | Smith and Dedra Matthews; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, He grew up in Chicago and Oak Park; he attended |
| 8 | | Whittier Elementary School, Emerson Junior High, and graduated |
| 9 | | from Oak Park/River Forest High School, where he excelled in |
| 10 | | academics and was the star running back of the football team; |
| 11 | | and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, He accepted Christ at an early age and was |
| 13 | | baptized under the leadership of Reverend Bertha Stokes; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He worked for the United States Postal Service for |
| 15 | | many years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, |
| 17 | | Charles Matthews and Fred Smith; and his cousin, Michael |
| 18 | | McClain; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Kyle Matthews is survived by his daughters, |

| 1 | | Treviona (Lashon), Kayla (Kahlonii), and Jada (Amber); his |
| 2 | | mother, Dedra (Ulysses); his father, Kyle (Elaine); his |

| 4 | | Phillips; his brothers, Frederick Matthews and Ja'Quory Smith; |
| 5 | | his sisters, Keisha White, Tanya Eiland, and Faysia MacArthur; |
| 6 | | his uncle, Bradley Keith Phillips; his great uncle, Donald L. |
| 7 | | Anthony; his special uncles, Dennis Nichol and Reginald |
| 8 | | "Akkeem" Berry; his aunt, Nijela Kimberly Phillips; his special |
| 9 | | aunts, Brenda Burris and Janice McClain; his nieces, Fhaysia |
| 10 | | and Madesyn; and a host of cousins and friends; therefore, be |

| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
| 15 | | Kyle Matthews; and be it further

| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Kyle Matthews as a symbol of our |
