HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to honor W. Thomas (Tom) Clark of 
4Newton for his 50 years of service as the "Voice of the Newton 
5Eagles"; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Tom Clark has had a long and distinguished tenure 
7as the play-by-play announcer in the broadcast booth for all 
8Newton Eagle home football games; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Tom Clark announced his last home game on October 
1021, 2011 for the Newton Eagle vs. Breese Mater Dei matchup at 
11Chizevsky Field; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Tom Clark was born in 1940; he is a long-time 
13resident of Newton; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Tom Clark graduated from Newton Community High 
15School in 1958 and began his football play-by-play announcing 
16in the fall of 1962, missing only two games during his 50 year 
17stint; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Thousands of student Jasper County athletes 
19demonstrated their talents and character on the football field 
20during the approximately 225 games Tom Clark announced; and

1    WHEREAS, Tom Clark continues to serve as a model of 
2commitment, integrity, and dedication for the people of Newton 
3Community High School, the City of Newton, Jasper County, and 
4the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we honor W. Thomas Clark for his 50 years of service to NCHS 
8football, congratulate him on his recent retirement, and wish 
9him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to W. Thomas Clark as a symbol of our esteem and 
13respect.
