| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gerald Gulley on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of SHORE | ||||||
| 5 | Community Services, Inc.; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Gerald Gulley has worked for SHORE Community | ||||||
| 7 | Services, Inc., a not-for-profit agency working with children | ||||||
| 8 | and adults with developmental disabilities (DD) for over 41 | ||||||
| 9 | years; he has served as Executive Director of the organization | ||||||
| 10 | for the last 34 years; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Gerald Gulley has always put SHORE's mission, | ||||||
| 12 | which is to improve the quality of life for persons with | ||||||
| 13 | developmental disabilities, first; with over 500 individuals | ||||||
| 14 | served annually, Gerald has ably led the organization in | ||||||
| 15 | providing services that enable people to live life with the | ||||||
| 16 | best possible quality, dignity, and respect; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Gerald Gulley has been instrumental in the growth | ||||||
| 18 | and expansion of SHORE's programs, including housing options, | ||||||
| 19 | programs for vocational training, early intervention, and | ||||||
| 20 | programs for seniors and adults with severe/profound | ||||||
| 21 | developmental disabilities; under his leadership, the agency | ||||||
| 22 | recently recorded its highest netting fundraiser, with | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | $132,000 raised in April; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Gerald Gulley is a member of the Illinois | ||||||
| 3 | Rehabilitation Association, the Governor's Planning Council on | ||||||
| 4 | Developmental Disabilities, and the Chicago Community Trust's | ||||||
| 5 | Persons With Disabilities Board; he is also a past president | ||||||
| 6 | and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Evanston; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Gerald Gulley has been the recipient of numerous | ||||||
| 8 | awards for his work in the community, including the Outstanding | ||||||
| 9 | Dedication designation as the President of the Kiwanis Club of | ||||||
| 10 | Evanston in 1989 - 1990, the Appreciation Award from SHORE | ||||||
| 11 | Community Services for 25 years of dedicated service in 1995, | ||||||
| 12 | the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois Association of | ||||||
| 13 | Rehabilitation Facilities in 1999, the Hixson Award from the | ||||||
| 14 | Kiwanis Club of Evanston in 2001, the Legion of Honor Award for | ||||||
| 15 | 25 Years or More of Service from the Kiwanis Club of Evanston | ||||||
| 16 | in 2002, and the Luis V. Amador Medallion Award for outstanding | ||||||
| 17 | service within his or her community from the Kiwanis Club of | ||||||
| 18 | Evanston; he was also honored by the Evanston Chamber of | ||||||
| 19 | Commerce with the NorthShore University HealthSystem Public | ||||||
| 20 | Service/Nonprofit Award for serving the community for 40 years | ||||||
| 21 | in 2010; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Gerald Gulley serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 23 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||

| 1 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 3 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 4 | we congratulate Gerald Gulley on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 5 | and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | ||||||
| 6 | further
