HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Charles Brown, who passed away on May 18, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown was born on April 8, 1951, in Racine, Wisconsin; his parents were Manny S. Brown and Jeanne (Levin) Brown; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown was elected to serve as the Secretary of the Board of Commissioners of the Rockford Park District in 2009; he served in that position from 2010 until his passing; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown contributed his considerable skills and expertise in communication; he greatly enjoyed representing the Rockford Park District at many of the social and networking events in his community; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown was passionate about advocating the development of downtown Rockford; he chaired successful fundraising efforts for the Burpee Museum and the Discovery Center Museum; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown was described by his friends and co-workers as a thoughtful person with a bright smile and a contagious enthusiasm for life; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Becky; and

WHEREAS, Charles Brown is survived by his brother, Richard; his four nieces and nephews; and his three stepdaughters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Charles "Chuck" Brown; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we remember the public service that Dr. Brown provided and his willingness to serve his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Brown and the Rockford Park District Board as a symbol of our sincere sympathy and in memoriam of his selfless public service.
