HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Rosemoor 
4Community and Roseland Heights Associations on the dedication 
5of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge at 99th and 
6100th Streets and King Drive; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The dedication will be held on August 27, 2011; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Rosemoor Community Association and Roseland 
10Heights Community Association are working together as the Dr. 
11Martin Luther King, Jr. Gateway Initiative to create a 
12community gateway over the Bishop Ford Expressway in Chicago, 
13between 99th and 100th Streets on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive; 
14and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The plan will include a memorial honoring Dr. King 
16on both the North and South side of the bridge as well as 
17welcoming people into the Roseland community; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, The dedication coincides with the unveiling of the 
19Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C., on 
20August 28, 2011; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate the Rosemoor Community and Roseland Heights 
4Associations on the dedication of the Dr. Martin Luther King, 
5Jr. Memorial Bridge; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the Rosemoor Community and Roseland Heights 
8Associations as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
