HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, St. Hubert Catholic Parish was founded in June of 1960, in Hoffman Estates, with the appointment of Reverend Leo Wincek as pastor; and

WHEREAS, In the beginning, masses were held in the dining hall of the Buggy Whip Tavern on Roselle Road, near the corner of Schaumburg Road, until a temporary church was built; and

WHEREAS, The first major building project was a brick school on Flagstaff Lane, dedicated in 1962, with a permanent church being erected in 1967; and

WHEREAS, In 1967, Reverend William Shields was appointed pastor; in 1977, a 3-story building was erected to serve as a rectory, administration building, and Religious Education Center; and

WHEREAS, Upon Reverend Shields' retirement in 1991, Reverend Eugene Nowak was appointed pastor, and a building campaign was begun to fund the construction of an Early Childhood Education Center and a Parish Ministry Center; and

WHEREAS, In 2005, with the appointment of Reverend Robert Rizzo as pastor, the decision was made to renovate the church and a capital campaign was launched; thanks to the generosity of so many, the renovated church opened its doors in November of 2008; and

WHEREAS, St. Hubert Catholic Parish currently serves almost 3,000 families in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, offering various ministries and organizations, continuing its focus on worship, education, and service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregants of St. Hubert Catholic Parish on the 50th anniversary of the parish and wish them continued success for years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Rizzo on behalf of the congregation of St. Hubert Catholic Parish as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
