| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, A Freedom of Information request to obtain |
| 3 | | information about millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded |
| 4 | | workers compensation settlements paid to prison guards at |
| 5 | | Menard Prison was submitted to the Department of Central |
| 6 | | Management Services (CMS) in February, and that information has |
| 7 | | yet to be obtained; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Attorney General's Public Access Counselor's |
| 9 | | Office issued a binding opinion, calling for the release of the |
| 10 | | medical tests held by CMS, the State agency that manages the |
| 11 | | State employees' workers' compensation program; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Under Illinois law, CMS has 35 days to release the |
| 13 | | documents or appeal the opinion to circuit court, either in |
| 14 | | Sangamon or Cook County; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Today, May 23, 2011 is the 35th day since the |
| 16 | | Attorney General's Office issued its opinion; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 | | we urge the Department of Central Management Services to |
| 20 | | release the information requested in the Freedom of Information |
| 21 | | Act request; and be it further
