HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Frank Arnold Bonora was born May 3, 1923, in 
3Yatesboro, Pennsylvania; he later moved to Chicago to seek 
4employment; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army Air 
6Corps, serving in World War II; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, He served in Italy, Germany, and France in the 
8328th Fighter Group, directing aircraft in bombing and strafing 
9missions; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, He was wounded by shrapnel at the Battle of Monte 
11Cassino in Italy; and
 
12    WHEREAS, He later returned to Chicago and served as a 
13community organizer in the Albany Park neighborhood, where he 
14was recognized by Chicago Mayors Richard J. Daley, Jane Byrne, 
15Harold Washington, and Richard M. Daley for his outstanding 
16community service; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, He is the oldest elected official in Lake County; 
18and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, He has been married to Marjorie for 48 years; he

1is the proud father of Connie, Laura, Mike, and Kerry; the 
2grandfather of Heather, Chelsea, Noah, Laura, Emily, and 
3Zachary; and the great-grandfather of 10; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Frank Bonora on his 68-year delayed receipt of 
7the Purple Heart Medal and thank him for his service to his 
8country; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Frank Bonora as a symbol of our respect and 
11esteem.
