| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the DePaul |
| 4 | | University Women's Basketball team on their outstanding |
| 5 | | achievement in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The DePaul Women's Basketball team advanced to the |
| 7 | | Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament as the third |
| 8 | | seed, the highest in the program's history; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Their 2011 appearance in the tournament was their |
| 10 | | ninth consecutive appearance and their 16th appearance |
| 11 | | overall; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The DePaul University Women's Basketball team |
| 13 | | compiled a 13-3 Big East Conference record and a 29-7 overall |
| 14 | | record, the most wins by a team in the program's history; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Lady Blue Demons had a perfect 17-0 record on |
| 16 | | their home court at the McGrath Phillips Arena; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Lady Blue Demons scored a total of 2,650 |
| 18 | | points and had a total of 635 assists, both of which are |
| 19 | | single-season records; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Keisha Hampton and Deirdre Naughton were both |
| 2 | | honorable mention All-American selections; Sam Quigley was |
| 3 | | named to the second team, shared the Big East Sportsmanship |
| 4 | | Award, and was a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award as the |
| 5 | | nation's best point guard; Taylor Pikes was named the league's |
| 6 | | Six Man of the Year; Keisha Hampton was a unanimous first-team |
| 7 | | All Big East selection; and Felicia Chester earned an honorable |
| 8 | | mention in all-conference honors; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Lady Blue Demons have maintained academic |
| 10 | | excellence in addition to their athletic achievements; |
| 11 | | therefore, be it

| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we congratulate the DePaul University Lady Blue Demons on their |
| 15 | | outstanding achievement in the NCAA Women's Basketball |
| 16 | | Tournament and their commitment to athletics, academics, and |
| 17 | | sportsmanship; and be it further

| 18 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to President of DePaul University Father Dennis H. |
