HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate former Illinois 
4State Senator Edward Nedza on his Honor Flight to Washington, 
5D.C.; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, In 1945

             he enlisted at the age of 17 in the United 
7States Navy; he was transferred to the  Naval Base in San Diego, 
8California before being sent to the South Pacific; he was a 
9Corpsman

                                    and Petty officer 1st Class; he served in the

                                    
10Philippines,

                        Guiuan Eastern Samar, and

                                    Okinawa;

from 1946 to 
111947

            he was assigned to the 1st Marine Division in Tientsin 
12(Tianjin), China; in 1948, he was assigned to

            Naval Special 
13Operations

                        in Germany

                                    to retrieve V-2 rocket fuel to be shipped 
14to the United States; and in



1948

            he received an Honorable 
15Discharge; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, He served as an Illinois State Senator in the 19th 
17District from 1979 to 1987; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, On April 27, 2011, he will be one of 95 World War 
19II veterans that will be escorted to Washington, D.C., as part 
20of Honor Flight Chicago to see the World War II Memorial; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The day will conclude back in Chicago with a

1welcome home celebration; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate Edward Nedza as he enjoys the Honor Flight to 
5Washington, D.C., and thank him for his service to his country 
6in World War II; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Edward Nedza as a symbol of our respect and 
9esteem.
