| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. Sheila C. Ribordy for |
| 4 | | her lifetime of accomplishment; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy received her Ph.D. from the |
| 6 | | University of Kansas in clinical psychology; she began her |
| 7 | | professional career at DePaul University in 1975 as an |
| 8 | | assistant professor in the Department of Psychology; she has |
| 9 | | been on the faculty ever since; she also served as a |
| 10 | | supervising psychologist in the original DePaul Mental Health |
| 11 | | Center, now DePaul Family and Community Services, from 1975 to |
| 12 | | the present; she became director of DePaul Family and Community |
| 13 | | Services in 1996; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy is the author of countless |
| 15 | | published works; during her tenure at DFCS, she has been |
| 16 | | instrumental in the procurement of numerous grants for special |
| 17 | | projects and community services in Cabrini Green and Lathrop |
| 18 | | Homes; she was instrumental in the funding and establishment of |
| 19 | | the Urban Systems of Care program, as well as the establishment |
| 20 | | of two satellite offices in Lathrop Homes and Cabrini |
| 21 | | communities to provide outreach and support to families and |
| 22 | | active case management and linkage to families for mental |
| 23 | | health services from 1998 to 2004; she secured funding and |
|

| 1 | | established the Bridges Program to provide outreach and |
| 2 | | intensive community support for youth involved in the juvenile |
| 3 | | justice system from 1999 to the present; she established the |
| 4 | | Crossroads Program, a prevention service to provide groups, |
| 5 | | case management, and support to youth at risk of becoming |
| 6 | | involved in the juvenile justice system from 2004 to 2008; she |
| 7 | | was involved in NIAC for many years and served as the |
| 8 | | organization's President; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy has been recognized by numerous |
| 10 | | groups for her work at DFCS; she was instrumental in bringing |
| 11 | | the Harry V. McNeill Memorial Award to DFCS, as well as the |
| 12 | | American Psychological Association and SCRA 2005 Outstanding |
| 13 | | Excellence award for bringing innovative community mental |
| 14 | | health to the Cabrini and Lathrop areas; in 2005, she received |
| 15 | | the Cortelyou-Lowery Award for Excellence and the |
| 16 | | Distinguished DePaul University Faculty designation from the |
| 17 | | university's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; in 2010, she |
| 18 | | received her 35th Service Award from the university; she has |
| 19 | | also received numerous community service awards; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Ribordy serves as a model of hard work, |
| 21 | | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
| 22 | | Illinois; therefore, be it
