HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donna Dziedzic, Executive Director of the Naperville Public Library, on her retirement; and

WHEREAS, She will step down in June after 15 years as Executive Director; she was named executive director in April of 1996 after coming to the library as a consultant; and

WHEREAS, She spent four months as interim director before the library board selected her to take the helm full time; during her tenure, the library added a third facility along 95th Street, renovated both the Nichols Library downtown and the Naper Boulevard Library, continued to expand its offerings to the public, and was named the best library of its size in the country 10 years in a row by the Hennen's American Public Library Ratings system; and

WHEREAS, She adopted a customer-centered approach and developed a pulse of what the community wanted from its libraries; she plans a "jeans and T's summer" next year, relaxing in her garden and taking time for personal reflection; and

WHEREAS, She currently co-chairs the Illinois Library Association's "The Future of Illinois Library Cooperation" initiative, charged with assessing the current environment of collaborative library services in Illinois to create efficiencies and benefits for library patrons across the State; and

WHEREAS, She has held leadership positions with the Illinois Library Association, the American Library Association, the New York Public Library, the New Jersey State Library, the Chicago Public Library, and the DuPage Library System; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Donna Dziedzic on her retirement and wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Donna Dziedzic as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
