| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Attorney General is responsible for |
| 3 | | administering the disbursement of monies collected by the |
| 4 | | Violent Crime Victims Assistance Fund; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The purpose of this fund is to aid any public or |
| 6 | | private nonprofit agency which provides assistance to victims |
| 7 | | of violent crime and their families, so long as Attorney |
| 8 | | General deems it worthy; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Victims of violent crime are currently unable to |
| 10 | | apply for funding directly to the Attorney General; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, This need is particularly strong when there is |
| 12 | | immediate and direct call for assistance to families for food |
| 13 | | and shelter; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 | | we urge the Attorney General to take steps to examine its |
| 17 | | appropriations of funds and evaluate if a more direct mechanism |
| 18 | | could be found to aid victims of violent crime and their |
| 19 | | families; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to |
