| 2 | | WHEREAS, Through careful energy conservation planning and |
| 3 | | the use of guaranteed performance contracts, Eastern Illinois |
| 4 | | University has the lowest energy cost per square foot of all |
| 5 | | public universities in this State, has reduced water usage by |
| 6 | | 48%, has reduced overall campus energy by 20%, and has reduced |
| 7 | | CO2 emissions by 29%; therefore, be it
|
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 9 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 10 | | each public university in this State shall report to the |
| 11 | | General Assembly on or before January 1, 2012 on its efforts |
| 12 | | with respect to the use of energy and water at its facilities |
| 13 | | and have a target goal of reducing its expense footprint for |
| 14 | | power, gas, and water consumption by at least 15% within 2 |
| 15 | | years; and be it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That this report shall also include how much each |
| 17 | | university's total power, gas, and water bills are and how much |
| 18 | | savings would be generated by its ongoing efforts to achieve |
| 19 | | the 15% target goal if that is more than its current efforts; |
| 20 | | and be it further
|
| 21 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 22 | | delivered to the board of trustees of each public university in |
