HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to recognize the
70th anniversary 
4of the United Service Organization; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The USO is one of the premier service 
6organizations dedicated to supporting the men and women in the 
7United States military who fight selflessly for our continued 
8freedom; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The organization raises money and collects items 
10to send overseas to those actively serving in the United States 
11Army in order to increase troop morale and offer a respite to 
12the atrocities of war; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, February 4, 2011 marks the 70th anniversary of the 
14USO's founding; and

  
 
15    WHEREAS, For seven decades, the USO has worked tirelessly 
16to provide concrete services to those proudly serving our 
17country, including free phone calls and care packages; 
18therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
20NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we congratulate the many participants in the United Service 
2Organization and its worthy causes, and wish the organization 
3continued prosperity for years to come; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the organizers of the USO as a symbol of our 
6respect and esteem.
