| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kathy Schimpf on |
| 4 | | the occasion of her retirement as director of the Williamson |
| 5 | | County Child Advocacy Center; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Schimpf has been the first and only director |
| 7 | | of the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center since the center |
| 8 | | opened in 1992; during her tenure, the center has gone from its |
| 9 | | humble beginnings of two card tables, six chairs, a budget of |
| 10 | | $65,000, and meetings in the First Presbyterian Church of |
| 11 | | Herrin parsonage to a staff of eight people who work in a |
| 12 | | center-owned residential location that includes two vehicles |
| 13 | | and an operating budget of nearly $500,000; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, As director of the Williamson County Child |
| 15 | | Advocacy Center, Kathy Schimpf has testified before many |
| 16 | | legislative committees on child abuse issues and has sat on |
| 17 | | several committees, task forces, and special interest groups |
| 18 | | dealing with child abuse issues; she also helped expand child |
| 19 | | advocacy services to surrounding Southern Illinois counties; |
| 20 | | and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Schimpf was designated as Advocate of the |
| 22 | | Year at the Downstate Training Conference on Child Abuse in |
