| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sergeant Barry |
| 4 | | Groesch of the Yorkville Police Department on his retirement; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Aurora and moved to Yorkville while |
| 7 | | he was in the 2nd grade; he graduated from Yorkville High |
| 8 | | School in 1978; and he attended Waubonsee Community College; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Deciding to not pursue college, he went to work |
| 11 | | for Barber-Greene, a factory that manufactured construction |
| 12 | | equipment; when he turned 21 years old he was offered a job |
| 13 | | with the Kendall County Sheriff's Department, where he worked |
| 14 | | for two and a half years before being recruited by the |
| 15 | | Yorkville Police Department; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) |
| 17 | | program started in the 1980s, and Kendall County began a |
| 18 | | countywide program, with Yorkville started their own program a |
| 19 | | year later; Sergeant Groesch became a DARE prevention teacher |
| 20 | | soon after, working with elementary and middle school kids; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Groesch taught DARE classes over a |
