HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dan Silverthorn on 
4his retirement from the West Central Illinois Building and 
5Construction Trades Council; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Dan has been involved in the union construction 
7trades for 45 years; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Dan has been a member in good standing of the 
9Carpenters Local 183 for almost 18 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dan served in the leadership of the Building 
11Trades for 18 years, starting as Associate Director in 1992; he 
12was promoted to Executive Director in 1999; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The West Central Illinois Building and 
14Construction Trades Council
represents 62 local unions and over 
1517,000 members of the 15 International Unions; the Council has 
16a 13-county jurisdiction in West Central Illinois; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dan is involved in numerous community boards such 
18as the W.D. Boyce Council of the Boy Scouts, the Economic 
19Development Council, the Workforce Development Council, the 
20United Way,  PALM/TRICON, the Peoria Labor Day Parade, and the

1Peoria Labor Temple Association; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Dan currently serves as Chairman of the Heart of 
3Illinois Regional Port District, as a Peoria Civic Center Board 
4Chairman, and a member of the construction committee for the 
5Peoria Riverfront Regional Museum; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dan has received numerous recognitions over the 
7years, including: United Way Pacesetter, Day of Caring; Boy 
8Scouts Silver Beaver Award; Boys and Girls Club, Helping Hand 
9Award; TRICON, Building a Better Community Award; TRICON, 
10Construction Person of the Year; Rebuilding Together, Silver 
11Hammer Award; Children's Hospital, Group Advocacy Award; the 
12Peoria County Old Settlers Community Service Award, and many 
13others; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Dan has done an incredible job over the years 
15representing organized labor while providing volunteer 
16leadership that is critical to the success of non-profits in 
17our community; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
19NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we congratulate Dan Silverthorn on his retirement and wish him 
21the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
