HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4Westmont Lions Club on their 75th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Westmont Lions Club was chartered on January 
68, 1936; the main mission of the Westmont Lions Club is service 
7to the community with an emphasis on blind and deaf activities; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Club hosts events such as Candy Day, the 
10Westmont Red, White, and BBQ Festival, and A Magical Vision 
11Fundraiser, as well as sponsoring several scholarship programs   
12for Westmont High School Seniors; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Club has been a staple at the Annual Taste of 
14Westmont, serving up over 1,000 ears of corn annually; previous 
15events have included the Pow Wow Days Festival, the Spring 
16Carnival, Donkey Basketball, and the Downtown Westmont 
17Christmas decorations; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The newest endeavor of the Lions Club is the "Send 
19a Kid to Camp Lions" promotion; currently running in 4 states, 
20the promotion will go to the national level in a few years and 
21is expected to raise more than $1,000,000 a year in donations

1to send blind and deaf children to camp; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Westmont Lions Club started 3 other Lions 
3Clubs, in Bolingbrook, Oakbrook, and Darien; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Westmont Lions Club pays for more than 80 
5vision tests, 80 pairs of glasses, and 30 hearing aids for 
6low-income families every year; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate the members of the Westmont Lions and wish them 
10all the best in their future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the Westmont Lions as a symbol of our respect and 
13esteem.
