| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners and | ||||||
| 4 | employees of The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company in | ||||||
| 5 | Jacksonville on the occasion of the bank's 100th anniversary; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company | ||||||
| 8 | officially opened for business on January 4, 1911; organizers | ||||||
| 9 | of the Bank were composed of prominent businessmen and farmers | ||||||
| 10 | in the Morgan County community, who provided the necessary | ||||||
| 11 | capital of $100,000 for the Bank; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company began | ||||||
| 13 | operating in temporary quarters at 231 1/2 West State Street in | ||||||
| 14 | Jacksonville; 11 months later, the Bank moved to 27 South Side | ||||||
| 15 | Public Square; in January of 1940, the Bank purchased the Ayers | ||||||
| 16 | National Bank building at 200 West State Street at a | ||||||
| 17 | foreclosure sale; the Bank's main branch opened its doors at | ||||||
| 18 | 200 West State Street on July 26, 1941 and has remained there | ||||||
| 19 | even since; in 1986, the 200 West State Street site was | ||||||
| 20 | accepted into the National Register of Historic Places by the | ||||||
| 21 | United States Department of the Interior for being associated | ||||||
| 22 | with banking longer than any other site in the State of | ||||||
| 23 | Illinois; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, In 1977, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company | ||||||
| 2 | opened its West Morton branch, which continues its full-service | ||||||
| 3 | operations today; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company has | ||||||
| 5 | consistently been on the cutting edge of customer service; the | ||||||
| 6 | Bank implemented an electronic banking system in 1959 to | ||||||
| 7 | facilitate operations; the Bank was also the first to offer | ||||||
| 8 | home banking services in the State of Illinois in 1992; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company began a | ||||||
| 10 | Business/Education Partnership with Lincoln Elementary School | ||||||
| 11 | in November of 1992; the Bank proudly continues this | ||||||
| 12 | partnership to this day; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company and its | ||||||
| 14 | employees serve as models of hard work, integrity, and | ||||||
| 15 | dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, | ||||||
| 16 | be it

| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we congratulate the owners and employees of The Farmers State | ||||||
| 20 | Bank and Trust Company on the occasion of the bank's 100th | ||||||
| 21 | anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in | ||||||

| 1 | the future; and be it further

| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to Joy French Becker, President of The Farmers State | ||||||
