| 1 | | AN ACT concerning children.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 8.2a as follows:
|
| 6 | | (325 ILCS 5/8.2a new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 8.2a. Developmental and social-emotional screening; |
| 8 | | indicated finding of abuse or neglect. The Department shall |
| 9 | | conduct a developmental and social-emotional screening within |
| 10 | | 45 days after the Department is granted temporary custody of a |
| 11 | | child. When a child under the age of 3 is engaged in intact |
| 12 | | family services, the Department shall offer to conduct a |
| 13 | | developmental screening within 60 days after the Department |
| 14 | | opens the case. For children in intact cases who are ages 3 |
| 15 | | through 5, the intact caseworker shall refer the child for a |
| 16 | | developmental screening. The Department shall promulgate rules |
| 17 | | necessary for the implementation of this Section.

| 18 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 | | becoming law.
