| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and
|
| 5 | | Audiology Practice Act is amended by changing Section 2 as |
| 6 | | follows:
|
| 7 | | (225 ILCS 110/2) (from Ch. 111, par. 7902)

| 9 | | Sec. 2. Legislative Declaration of Public Policy. The
The |
| 10 | | practice of
Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in the |
| 11 | | State of Illinois is hereby
declared to affect the public |
| 12 | | health, safety and welfare and to be subject
to regulation and |
| 13 | | control in the public interest. It is further declared
to be a |
| 14 | | matter of public interest and concern that the speech-language
|
| 15 | | pathology and audiology professions merit and receive the |
| 16 | | confidence of the
public and that only qualified persons be |
| 17 | | permitted to practice this
profession in the State of Illinois. |
| 18 | | This Act shall be liberally construed
to carry out these |
| 19 | | objectives and purposes. |
| 20 | | It is further declared to be the public policy of this |
| 21 | | State, pursuant to
subsections (h) and (i) of Section 6 of |
| 22 | | Article VII of the Illinois
Constitution of 1970, that any |
| 23 | | power or function set forth in this Act to
be exercised by the |
