<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>625 ILCS 5/6-508.2 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a transportation company may employ a driver that is not physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under Title 49 CFR Part 391.41 due to dependence on insulin, if the driver holds a valid Illinois driver's license, operates solely within the State, and has received a doctor's statement that: (i) the driver's medical condition is not likely to interfere with the driver's ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle; and (ii) the doctor's opinion is that the driver's condition is likely to remain stable for the 2 years that the medical certificate is valid. Provides that a transportation company that employs a driver under an intrastate medical waiver must maintain in the driver's qualification file a copy of the doctor's statement of intrastate medical waiver. Provides that the Secretary of State shall adopt rules to implement the new provisions.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
