| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Dojna G. Barr, who passed away on October |
| 4 | | 30, 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dojna Barr was born on January 18, 1932 in |
| 6 | | Belgrade, Yugoslavia; her parents were Ellena (Naum) and Stojan |
| 7 | | Galich; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, After she earned her doctorate in medicine, Dojna |
| 9 | | Barr served her residency in psychiatry at Presbyterian St. |
| 10 | | Luke's Hospital and earned her board certification as a fellow |
| 11 | | in pediatrics, as well as in child, adult, and geriatric |
| 12 | | psychiatry; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dojna Barr served as the Director of Child and |
| 14 | | Adolescent Psychiatry at Chicago's Ridgeway Hospital, |
| 15 | | Naperville's Linden Oaks Hospital, and the Ottawa Hospital; she |
| 16 | | was also one of the first female staff members at Provena St. |
| 17 | | Joseph Hospital, where she served for over 35 years; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dojna Barr published 8 novels and was the |
| 19 | | recipient of the 2008 Fyodor Dostoyevsky Literary Award and the |
| 20 | | Peter Kocic Foundation Modern Literature Award in recognition |
| 21 | | of her literary achievements; she was also a passionate still |
