SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Christianna Michelle Wilbourn of 
4
Bloomington, who passed away on May 5, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Christianna Michelle Wilbourn was born on April 4, 
6
1991;

Michelle was a joy to her parents and a responsible, 
7
loving, and faithful daughter and sister; she was known for her 
8
exuberant smile and her zeal for life, but also for her 
9
honesty, integrity, her encouragement, and her faith; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Michelle accepted Christ as her savior at the age 
11
of 11; her love of God and her faith were evident to those who 
12
knew her; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Michelle excelled academically at Normal 
14
Community High School and was in the top 10 percent of her 
15
graduating class; she was actively involved in Rotary Club, 
16
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Brotherhood Tree, children's 
17
ministry at First Assembly of God, tutoring at Grove 
18
Elementary, volunteering in blood drives, the Salvation Army, 
19
as well as a member of the National Honor Society, African 
20
American Culture Club, peer leadership, teaching teams, 
21
homecoming committee, M.A.P.S., and Student Council making an 
22
impact on her school and her community; and

    WHEREAS, She had been accepted into Illinois Wesleyan 
2
University for the fall of 2009 to pursue a degree in 
3
international business; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandparents, 
5
Essie and Willie Brown; and her great-grandmother, Ruby 
6
Wilbourn; and
 
7
    WHEREAS, Michelle is survived by her parents, Stephen and 
8
Armie Wilbourn; her three siblings, Stephen Christopher, Joy 
9
Alexandria, and Christian Jonathan; her grandmother, Iola 
10
Collins; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and 
11
friends; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
13
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
14
her family and friends, the passing of Christianna Michelle 
15
Wilbourn; and be it further

 
16
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to the family of Christianna Michelle Wilbourn as a 
18
symbol of our sincere sympathy.
