210 ILCS 85/6.03 new










    Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall prescribe, by
rule, standards for hospital bills and statements of account.  Provides that at a minimum, the standards shall require hospitals to indicate on bills and statements of account the actual cost to the hospital of items being charged to the patient.

    AN ACT concerning regulation.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended  by adding 
5
Section 6.03 as follows:

    (210 ILCS 85/6.03  new)

    Sec. 6.03. Patient bills and statements of account.  The 
8
Department shall prescribe, by
rule, standards for hospital 
9
bills and statements of account.  At a minimum, the standards 
10
shall require hospitals to indicate on bills and statements of 
11
account the actual cost to the hospital of items being charged 
12
to the patient.
