HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4Monarch Awards Foundation of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority 
5Incorporated's Xi Nu Omega Chapter on the occasion of hosting 
6its 28th Annual Monarch Awards Gala, "A Tribute to Black Men", 
7on December 4, 2010; and

 
8    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation was established in 
91988 as a non-profit programming and fundraising organization; 
10the foundation annually implements community-based programs 
11and fundraisers, awarding more than $600,000 in scholarships 
12and non-profit assistance since its inception; and

 
13    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation seeks to provide 
14programs of service to the community, alone and in partnership 
15with other organizations; to provide scholarships to assist 
16students in academic endeavors; to provide assistance to 
17community-based not-for-profits; to provide referrals, 
18information, and assistance to families; and to acknowledge and 
19foster cultural awareness and diversity; and

 
20    WHEREAS, The Monarch Awards Foundation's major fundraiser 
21is the annual Monarch Awards Gala; all profits from the Gala 
22are used to provide scholarships and donations to other

1non-profit agencies to assist them in their service to the 
2community; therefore, be it



 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate the members of the Monarch Awards Foundation of 
6the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated's Xi Nu Omega 
7Chapter on the occasion of hosting its 28th Annual Monarch 
8Awards Gala and wish them continued success and happiness in 
9the future; and be it further

 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the members of Monarch Award Foundation as a 
12symbol of our respect and esteem.
