| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Every day, pediatric hematology/oncology nurses |
| 3 |
| care for many of the most precious patients of all: children, |
| 4 |
| adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood diseases; |
| 5 |
| with unwavering devotion, these special nurses provide the |
| 6 |
| highest standard of physical and emotional care to their |
| 7 |
| patients and families; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Since 1973, the Association of Pediatric |
| 9 |
| Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON), a professional |
| 10 |
| organization for pediatric hematology/oncology nurses and |
| 11 |
| other pediatric hematology/oncology healthcare professionals, |
| 12 |
| has provided leadership and expertise to pediatric |
| 13 |
| hematology/oncology nurses by defining and promoting the |
| 14 |
| highest standards of practice and care to the pediatric, |
| 15 |
| adolescent, and young adult communities; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The month of September is Childhood Cancer |
| 17 |
| Awareness Month; it is fitting to have a day within that month |
| 18 |
| that recognizes pediatric hematology/oncology nurses and their |
| 19 |
| work with these children; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 22 |
| designate September 8 of every year as Pediatric |
