| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Men and women of all faiths, backgrounds, and |
| 3 |
| ethnicities have come to the defense of the United States |
| 4 |
| during times of war; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, During World War II, many African-Americans |
| 6 |
| served with courage and dignity as members of the United States |
| 7 |
| Armed Forces, including many who served in the United States |
| 8 |
| Navy; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The security and prosperity of our nation and all |
| 10 |
| free nations throughout the world is due, in large part, to the |
| 11 |
| noble actions and incredible bravery of our veterans; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The Trinity African American Episcopal Church in |
| 13 |
| Waukegan will host a salute to African-American veterans of the |
| 14 |
| United States Navy during World War II and military personnel |
| 15 |
| of all wars during a ceremony on March 21, 2010; therefore, be |
| 16 |

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 19 |
| honor the African-American veterans of the United States Navy |
| 20 |
| during World War II and U.S. military personnel of all wars for |
| 21 |
| their great courage and noble sacrifices during times of war; |
