| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Christine Blue on |
| 4 |
| her retirement as the Health Director for the Park Forest |
| 5 |
| Health Department; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, For 16 years she has helped make the department a |
| 7 |
| vital part of
the community; she retired at the end of 2009; |
| 8 |
| and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, She began her career in the medical field at |
| 10 |
| Ingalls Memorial Hospital in
Harvey and moved on to the |
| 11 |
| maximum-security Stateville Correctional Center near Joliet, |
| 12 |
| where she was in charge of the health care
unit for about 2,000 |
| 13 |
| inmates, a unit that included a 32-bed infirmary; Stateville |
| 14 |
| was the first
prison in the country to get its hospital |
| 15 |
| accredited, all under the eyes of Christine Blue; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, She became the
director of the Park Forest Health |
| 17 |
| Department in January of 1994; during her tenure, she helped |
| 18 |
| develop such programs as the two-year "CHIPS" program, |
| 19 |
| targeting minority groups; a
yearlong diabetes workshop in |
| 20 |
| 2007; a "10-ton weight-reduction challenge" in 2009; Access to |
| 21 |
| Care, a program that seeks to aid
those not eligible for public |
| 22 |
| aid but who are without health insurance; and the Place Matters |
