HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners and 
4
employees of Shoreline Sightseeing in Chicago on the occasion 
5
of the company's 70th anniversary in 2009; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Shoreline Sightseeing was established in 1939 as a 
7
one-vessel operation, offering Lake Michigan Boat Tours that 
8
showcase the fabulous skyline of Chicago; now in its third 
9
generation of family ownership and operation, Shoreline has a 
10
fleet of 9 touring vessels and 10 water taxis, which offer 
11
regularly scheduled services and private charters; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Shoreline Sightseeing has long been at the 
13
forefront of innovation within its industry; in 1996, Shoreline 
14
brought the first Water Taxis to Chicago; in 1999, the company 
15
began its very successful Architecture Cruises on the Chicago 
16
River; between 1999 and 2003, Shoreline commissioned three 
17
brand new vessels for their touring fleet, the Star of Chicago, 
18
the Evening Star, and the Bright Star; Shoreline recently added 
19
two more custom-outfitted vessels to its fleet, the Celebration 
20
in 2005 and the Voyageur in 2006; and

 
21
    WHEREAS, Shoreline Sightseeing will celebrate its 70th 
22
season with an expanded schedule of daily Architecture Cruises

and Skyline Boat Tours, as well as a schedule of Sunset and 
2
Fireworks Cruises; and

    WHEREAS, In its 70 years of operation, Shoreline 
4
Sightseeing has carried generations of Chicagoans, as well as 
5
passengers from just about every country in the world; the 
6
company plans to continue its legacy of top-quality service for 
7
many years to come; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10
congratulate the owners and employees of Shoreline Sightseeing 
11
on the occasion of the company's 70th anniversary and wish them 
12
continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
13
further

    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
15
presented to Chip and Matt Collopy as an expression of our 
16
esteem and respect.
