| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kimberly Rothstein |
| 4 |
| and the members of the Troy 30-C Special Olympics basketball |
| 5 |
| team on the occasion of the successful formation of their team; |
| 6 |
| and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The idea to form the Troy 30-C Special Olympics |
| 8 |
| basketball team came from Kimberly Rothstein, a teacher at |
| 9 |
| Crossroads Elementary School, whose friend, a Chicago public |
| 10 |
| school teacher, had experienced great success with a Special |
| 11 |
| Olympics program; inspired by her friend's success, Ms. |
| 12 |
| Rothstein met with Ken Surma, the interim director of |
| 13 |
| transportation and former assistant principal at Troy Middle |
| 14 |
| School, about forming a team in Troy; Mr. Surma, excited about |
| 15 |
| the prospect, helped supply the team with uniforms, |
| 16 |
| basketballs, and storage bags for the team to get started; he |
| 17 |
| also arranged for the team to have a joint practice with the |
| 18 |
| seventh and eighth-grade team at Troy Middle School; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, This year, Ms. Rothstein formed a basketball team |
| 20 |
| in order to try out the program and hopes to build a full team |
| 21 |
| next year; the students are currently practicing their |
| 22 |
| dribbling, passing, and shooting skills for a skills |
| 23 |
| competition in February of 2009, in which any gold medal |
