Provides that a county board or the corporate authorities of a municipality shall not adopt a code or ordinance that (i) prohibits a person or entity from installing or equipping fire sprinklers in specified residences or (ii) requires a person or entity to install or equip fire sprinklers in specified residences. Provides that a county board or the corporate authorities of a municipality shall not impose any fine, penalty, or other requirement on any person or entity for installing or equipping or not installing or equipping fire sprinklers in specified residences. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>Senate Committee Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the introduced bill with changes. Requires the county board or the corporate authorities of a municipality to separately vote on any code provision or ordinance that prohibits or requires fire sprinklers in specified residences. Exempts any code provision or ordinance that requires fire sprinklers in a residence that was adopted before December 31, 2008. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
