<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>New Act</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>Creates the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act. Contains provisions concerning jurisdiction over adult guardianships, conservatorships, and other protective proceedings. Sets forth guidelines to specify which court has jurisdiction to appoint a guardian or conservator for an incapacitated adult, by prioritizing the states which might claim jurisdiction. Provides for designation of a "home state" and a "significant-connection state". Provides for communication and cooperation between courts. Contains provisions concerning transfer of guardianship or conservatorship to another state. Provides for registration and recognition of guardianship or protective orders from other states.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Committee Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>

Amends the Probate Act of 1975. Provides that an owner, licensee, administrator, employee, or agent of a long-term care facility shall not receive upon the death of a resident of the long-term care facility any property, benefit, or other interest by reason of the resident's death, whether as legatee, beneficiary, joint tenant, survivor, appointee or in any other capacity and whether the property, benefit, or other interest passes pursuant to any form of title registration, testamentary or nontestamentary instrument, intestacy, renunciation, or any other circumstance. Provides that this prohibition shall not apply if the decedent was a part of the immediate family of the owner, licensee, administrator, employee, or agent. Provides that the property, benefit, or other interest shall pass as if the survivor died before the decedent, provided that with respect to joint tenancy property the survivor's interest possessed prior to the resident's death shall not be diminished. Provides that the holder of any property subject to these provisions shall not be liable for distributing or releasing the property if the distribution or release occurs without the holder having knowledge of the application of these provisions to the property.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
